Bio
Adam is a Twin Cities based musician who frequently performs in NYC and tours around the country. He writes and performs Soul, Funk, Jazz, and R’n’B music. His influences include: Stevie Wonder, D’Angelo, Donny Hathaway, Sam Cooke, and Marvin Gaye and many others.
Adam has played on bills with George Porter Jr., Craig Robinson, Papa John Gros, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Michael Franti, Pete Francis (Dispatch), Caleb Hawley, Keaton Simons, Akie Bermiss (Lake Street Dive), and James Brown Dance Party to name a few.
Born in Long Island, NY, Adam was mostly raised by his mother, an English Jewish writer. With his two siblings, his mother took them all over the world. He lived in Israel, England, and Houston, before moving back to New York to live in the city in his 20s.
He was often told by his teachers at his secondary school in Framlingham, England, that a career in music is not realistic. So, for a long time he pursued other possible career paths. Working as a bartender in NYC, he made the decision to start playing music again in his late 20s.
With a guitar his father had given him, he moved up to Beacon, NY to live with his aunt and write music. After a few months up there, he moved back to the city and started playing at the local open mics.
He was playing at the Caffe Vivaldi open mic when he met Dylan Charles. They both liked each others’ music, and Adam joined Dylan’s band. This band later became On The Sun, which Adam has worked with since. On The Sun raised a sum of money from a Kickstarter campaign. In 2014 they released their first self-titled album On The Sun, which was recorded at the legendary Bunker Studios in Brooklyn. Then in 2018, the band released a second album called Gratuity Not Included, which was mostly recorded at Big Sky Studios in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
During the pandemic Adam relocated to Minneapolis, MN and flew back and forth between the Twin Cites and NYC. On The Sun continued to work on music, releasing the singles Next Year in 2020 and Overexposed in 2021.
Today, Adam is working on a solo career, continues to play with On The Sun, tours nation-wide, and is building a band in the Twin Cities. Look out for him in a town near you!
